Operation:

Supply of wire to large reels (1,500 kg). Empty plastic spools (150 to 350 mm) are automatically placed in a winding head, inspected for size and put into position. The wire end is affixed to the centre of the spool with an automatic adhesive tape dispenser after which the winding process begins. The power and revolutions in the process are driven by means of a servo technique.
The winding speed amounts to a maximum of 5 m/sec. The wire is cut off automatically at the end of the cycle (length precision to 0.1 %!) with the wire end being affixed to the spool and the spool placed in the ‘finished product storeroom’. The machine operates fully automatically and can manufacture for up to 90 minutes unmanned. Afterwards, a new reel with thread has to be put in place.
